Ruby on Rails Developer (will train PHP Dev), £24 - £32k, Manchester
Our Client is a small Web Application development house with parent company backing. The role encompasses all aspects of web development, with particular requirements for Ruby on Rails (ideally) and current PHP skills.
They will also be developing for the Blackberry, iPhone and Google / Android platforms in the near future.
You will be working on a new product, almost ready for launch and the ideal applicant will be able to carry on developing the software, including final tweaks to be launch ready, bug fixing, testing and developing additional functionality to include into future releases. There will also be an opportunity to be heavily involved in future projects from the ground floor.
Essential Requirements:
• Excellent PHP skills
• Some knowledge of Ruby on Rails
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Initiative, enthusiasm, passion, self-starter
• Confident with a good sense of humour and ability to communicate at all levels
• Ability to work effectively with other team members or to work on own
• Committed to learning new development languages and techniques
Desirable Requirements:
• Commercial experience of Ruby on Rails (almost certainly guarantees an interview!!)
• Working with third party payment systems such as Paypal
• Knowledge of GIT and Basecamp
• Previous Experience working within the Hospitality
Key Attributes/Responsibilities:
• To work alongside existing Development Team
• Continue to work on the new system in readiness for its launch
• Continue to develop the system, including testing and bug fixing
• Creativity in suggesting, planning and implementing future upgrades/add-ons to the system
• Take part in strategic planning meetings with team and MD
