My social Networking client is looking for a new software engineer to join the team to assist in the development of the next generation of our platform. You will be joining a development team of 9 to continue to develop our growing network of sites. My client launched it's premium services in February 2009 and has continued to grow a strong base of users creating networks in every walk of life from politics, to sport, to the National Lottery! They have over 160,000 social networks using the platform today for every imaginable application.
My client’s environment is a great place to work, based out of an office near Liverpool Street they offer a relaxed, creative atmosphere and aim to foster an environment which encourages innovation and great ideas.
Skills Required:
- Knowledge of PHP Frameworks (e.g. Symfony 1.2 / 1.4 / 2.0) and ORMs like Doctrine and Propel
- Experience with MySQL, Relational Databases, entity relationships
- Solid grasp of Object Oriented Programming in PHP5
- Understanding of design patterns - Experience using caching systems (APC)
- Ability to identify and work around short comings in base framework classes
- Experience with bug tracking software
- Experience with SVN and/or GIT
Also beneficial:
- Experience with template systems (Twig)
- Good knowledge of XHTML and CSS
- OO Javascript (Mootools or jQuery)
- Queue based messaging systems
- Experience in a Scrum / Agile development environment
- memcache experience
- Experience in coding high scalability websites and with website optimization (frontend & backend)
- Experience with social networking services (ex. Facebook, Twitter)
- Experience in creating unit testing suites and continuous integration solutions (eg Selenium)
- We'd be interested any experience with payment systems such as Zuora, PayPal, Authorize.net etc.
- Knowledge of SOAP (from the client or server-side)
